Moving

So.

The hunt is on, I’ve gotten a new job and our story continues here.

There is so much to tell you.

“…and we’re losing at Sifilar right now. There’s a lot of heavy fighting.”

I looked at the view screen at my boss. The lines in his face were starting to look like scars in the dim light.

“Boss, I’m sure Gemma’s death was a homicide. She was murdered. We have to do something about this!”

“Sinti, I understand. I miss her as much as you do and I will find who is responsible. But I’m a full ten systems away from you and I can’t leave right now. Lucius and the rest of the Knighthood are working just has hard on their end, but like us in the Guard, they can’t leave the war to handle what is ultimately a local police matter. Favored or not, Capsuleer or not, we’ve had our memorial, it’s time to let her go.

I blinked back tears, “Ok. What are my orders sir?”

Luckily, he ignored the sarcasm, “Kuomi Logistics was always a test run on how to manage a corporation. We succeeded in driving down prices in the area, assisted the war effort and made a decent amount of cash in the process. But when it was two of you, it was almost more than you could manage. One of you…”

“I know, I hate to have to fire everyone, but there are a lot of new business opportunities now from companies that are copying our model. Gemma was a good driver and manager. They’ll survive, I guess.”

“Yes she was Sinti. Now, I want you to liquidate everything except what you need to make it as a solo miner. Save all the blueprints though, we might need them in the future. Close up shop and go back to the Homeworld. Wait there and I’ll line up some other companies for you to hire onto. Let Concorde place you in one of the Minmatar Companies in the meantime. Try for Freshfoods, they’re pretty inoffensive.”

“Any luck on the Sisters?”

“No, the Sisters don’t usually talk with Amarr Military. I’m thinking actually of something a little more…challenging. How would you like to try living in Providence?”

“I’d rather scoop out my uterus and send it out for dry cleaning sir,” I grinned.

“I might need some eyes out there soon. I’ll check with one of the loyalist groups out there and see who’s hiring for fleet support. Don’t worry. I won’t have you joining Star Fraction…yet.”

This time, I ignored his sarcasm, “Ok. Boss. There’s a lot of good money to be made, I suppose. If nothing else.”

“That too.”

I sighed, “So this is the end of Kuomi?”

He smiled warmly, “Yes. There’s only us now. Two out of nine. And if we’re not careful and smart, we’ll be lost to the darkness as well.

I could hear explosions and siren went off in his background. A red light went on somewhere off camera and his face looked like it was streaked in blood.

“I have to go Sinti. Stay safe. Stay on Homeworld near the Basilica and wait for word from me. “

“Go with God Boss.”

The view screen went black.

I looked around what used to be the main office of Kuomi Logistics.

I think people need to know more about what we were doing here. They should know about me and Boss and all our lost friends and family. I think what we’ve done, what we’re doing and what we’re going to do is going to end up saving a lot of lives. I don’t what to think about what will happen if we fail to stop the growing darkness.

This is Sinti Vailatti, signing off…for now. I’ll leave a link so you can follow along. What happens next is going to be quite a ride.

so

So here I am.

Boss is helping the investigation. Lucius is truing too to find out what exactly happened.

But the dream that we had for making Kuomi a better place is done.

I think we did good. But I can’t do it alone.

So I’m taking a part time gig with a Matar food company while Boss decides on our next move.

This is Sinti…putting the tables on the chairs and moving to the Amarr homeworld far now.

Help!

*Sinti looks panicked as she appears on the screen. Her make-up runs in streaks from her eyes and her voice is hoarse.

This is Sinti Vailatti of Kuomi Logistics calling on an open frequency to all points.

Recently we accepted a contract from Lucius Vindictus of the Knighthood of the Merciful Crown to complete a construction project in the Taherid sector of Oris, Amarr VIII. We ran into some local difficulties, but it was nothing we couldn’t overcome.

We’d just put the finishing touches on the place when several slaves in around the construction sire died.

My friend and partner Gemma Naquist was among…was among the bodies that we found. Initial readings indicate some kind of nerve agent or toxin, but with Gemma her…implants. The things that make us capsuleers. They were removed…they were cut out of her.

I’m on my way back from Amarr to Kuomi to see if her clone activated, but so far the techs at Ishukone station say they haven’t received a signal.

I’m sure this announcement will be met with glee by some of you out there, but I could really use a hand here.

Amarr construction begins!

We’ve  kept busy during the week, making little contact with Alahric. He’s our contact in the Knighthood and is overseeing the project.  We’ve landed a Mammoth-Class Industrial ship near the work site and several hundred slaves and workers have begin unloading tools, heavy equipment and a small refinery.

Sinti will be overseeing the set-up. I think our initial estimates of building costs are a little high. Now luckily, the local regolith is rich in gypsum and other minerals so we can locally produce our own cement and brick which will reduce the amount of construction blocks and glass we will need by half. Since we’re on a tight schedule, I’ll keep the workers going full-time and it might mean some…attrition in the work force. But we can replace the workers cheaper and easier than we can produce or purchase the finished materials.

I’m also going to “confiscate” the left over materials. That will save us additional time and trouble. I’m glad we’ve gotten such a swimming contract. This will help us make quite a name!

Now…about this Khanid-food restaurant I keep hearing about…

The Kuomi Building

Construction of our corporate HQ here on Kuomi IV is going according to plan. We expect construction of the arcology to be completed by the end of the next month.

Additionally, we here at KL have accepted a contract from an ally in the Knighthood of the Merciful Crown to build a small mansion complex in the Imperial home Oris (Amarr VIII)!

In the News: Things along the border seem to have quieted to their normal levels of danger. People are urged to take all their usual precautions, and as usual, report any suspicious activates immediately.

Security Alert

Reposted from The Scope

Pashanai – In response to heightened terror alerts across the Amarr Empire following the Pashanai attack, Amarr Customs has mobilized to lock down civilian travel on many heavily trafficked transit routes. At checkpoints along the Ammatar-Minmatar border, the sudden density of traffic and limited customs presence has resulted in complete curtailment of trade and transit vessels.

Jaikhan Dhomn, a Thukker merchant employed at the Trust Partners Trading Post in Tanoo, was planning to cross the border with his family when he learned of the security lockdown. “Everyone is afraid and angry after this [attack]. The Amarr fear us for what the Bloody Hand did, and we fear the Amarr for what they will do in return,” he said.

Capsuleer traffic remains unimpeded across the Empire. Amarr Customs Commander Bachain Zhaide commented, “Everything that happens to a capsuleer ship, every ounce of goods moved on or off it, is logged in meticulous detail by CONCORD. Amarr Customs has directives not to interrupt capsuleer traffic beyond standard procedure. We barely have enough manpower as it is, so if CONCORD keeps track of the capsuleers, we have more resources to dedicate to keeping everyone else safe.”

Amarr Customs has given no indication of when it expects the lockdown to end.

*Chief Vailatti, please report to the Situation Room. All staff go to level 2 readiness…Chief Vailatti, please report…

One day, I’m going to take a blaster to that alert system.

I love Gemma to pieces, but Caldari seem to have a genetic imperative to have automated alert systems installed in everything.

When I got to the situation room, I looked at her suit. You can always tell Gemma’s mood by what she wears. To be brief, it’s in the hemline. Hers was an a-line that went to the knee. Middle-ground…hrm, the hemline was just below the patella, so it’s not a good day…

“What’s up chummer?” I said as I slid into a chair.

Gemma looked at me, “We have a few different situations Sinti. First there was a massive explosion at the Ministry of War station in Pashanai. Early reports have estimated almost five thousand dead and twice that many injured.”

I shuddered. We spent a lot of our times in stations like that one. Even though modern construction makes them tough, fire and explosions are still a thing to be feared.

“We’re going to send aid?” I asked.

“You got it. That’s your department. Take your destroyer though. I chided Verone over Gal-Net to see if I could goad him into making a positive response…”

“I don’t know why you bother Gemma. Eventually, one of these pirates you like to poke fun at is going to wardec us and then we’ll have to go on a war footing. Bang! Party is OVER chummer.”

“I know, I know. But I can’t sit by and let him make fun of “rich Amarr” while he sits in Lamaa getting a fat ass while he signs autographs on the tits of his fan club. And as for the war…”

Her look got dark. I could almost see her hemline growing. “Any word from…?”

“Yes, last night. He lost a destroyer to a common pirate deep behind enemy lines. The pirate wasn’t even in one of the usual alliances. The Empire doesn’t inspire the fear it should anymore. And that’s bad.”

I nodded, “what can we do?”

“Nothing, really. Support them vocally as long as we’re living here and try to keep the prices down and the slaves happy.”

“I’m peachy keen Gemma. How are you?”

She smirked, “Sitting in the sun chummer. But there are other issues.”

 “Do tell?”

“Well, it seems that John Revenant from Ishku-Ratta got himself listed as MIA in Saikamon. They say he was going to meet with “an as-yet unidentified but well-known operator in the slave trade.” I’ve offered to help in the search. We still have those damn Republic traders engaging us in a price war and after I make an appearance there, I have to double back to Amarr to meet with Sir Lucian’s rep regarding that construction project.”

I shook my head, “We’re not actually going to build that eyesore, are we?”

“Yes. He says he is getting a lot of pressure from his…wife.”

 We laughed

Eventually I asked, “We’re going down the usual road with him?”

“Yes, probably. Don’t worry. I’ll handle this one. He won’t be the first knight we’ve seduced right?”

I chuckled. Some problems had universal solutions. Gemma’s hemline would have to be watched carefully.

Update

Hi folks. We’re all still alive and well.

Local reports indicate Amarr forces fought a defensive action against those pesky Star Fraction and A.A. people yesterday in Ussera and were able to drive them off. Violence seems to be the word of the day throughout the Bleak Lands and Devoid. So stay safe.

God Bless!
